Contract Full-Stack JavaScript Developer – Node & Angular

6‑month contract (extensions likely)

£400 per day – Inside IR35

60% Hybrid in Newcastle

Opus is supporting a major migration programme for a UK Government department, delivered via a leading consultancy. This programme supports mission‑critical services dealing with high user volumes, sensitive data, and complex business processes.

We’re hiring Node.js & Angular Engineers to play a key role in frontend modernisation and service delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting and delivering a large‑scale Angular migration
• Building frontend applications using Angular & TypeScript
• Developing backend services with Node.js & Express
• Writing test‑driven code (Jest)
• Working within CI/CD pipelines
• Improving automation and frontend standards
• Ensuring accessibility and WCAG compliance
• Contributing to architecture and best practice across teams

✅ Required Experience

• Strong experience with Angular (priority)
• Node.js & Express
• TypeScript
• TDD and automated testing
• CI/CD experience
• Experience working on large, complex digital platforms
• Agile delivery experience

⭐ Nice to Have

• Kubernetes or containerisation exposure (Docker)
• Cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
• Public sector / government projects
• SQL / NoSQL databases, Redis
• SC eligibility (not mandatory)
