The Opportunity
Founded in 1857, Leeds Church Institute are a prominent charity in Leeds promoting education, faith, and social justice, working to connect academic theology with daily city life. They play a pivotal role in supporting local churches and communities through events, research, and collaborative projects focusing on urban mission, community engagement, and supporting those at the margins of society.
They are seeking a hands‑on Finance & Operations Manager to take ownership of their finance function and provide vital assistance to the Trusts operational function. Reporting directly to senior leadership and as part of a supportive team, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a varied and dynamic role.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts
- Lead on all banking transactions, undertake regular review and reconciliation of banking transactions
- Work closely with the CEO and Trustees on budget setting and business continuity planning
- Update and maintain financial systems including invoicing, recording expenditure against appropriate cost centre, and monitoring against budget
- Act as a point of contact with auditor, accountant, payroll provider, investment management and pension fund: and review these advisers on an agreed schedule
- Arrange the Annual Report and the audit
- Support the Data Protection Officer with audits/reporting as required and advise on data protection issues
- File returns and update changes as appropriate to the Charity Commission and Companies House
The Person
- CCAB/CIMA qualified Accountant or possesses significant experience in a similar role
- A proactive and motivated finance professional with a strong grasp of end-to-end finance
