Training Provider: Staffordshire University

Start Date: September (typical course start)

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday (flexitime) – 37.5 hours per week

About the Apprenticeship

This Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship is designed for future engineers passionate about electronics, embedded systems, and real‑world innovation.

You’ll study towards a BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering while gaining hands‑on experience in industry, applying your learning to real projects at Capula. (staffs.ac.uk)

Throughout the programme, you’ll explore:

  • Electronic circuit theory and engineering maths
  • Digital electronics, control systems, and real-time embedded systems
  • Microcontrollers, sensors, digital signal processing, and machine‑learning applications
  • Circuit design, modelling, CAD systems, and testing methodologies

This programme is ideal if you have a background or strong interest in electrical and electronic engineering.

What You’ll Do at Capula

During your apprenticeship, you will rotate through key areas of our engineering business, including:

  • Manufacturing: Practical hands‑on experience building and coding control system components
  • Software Design Engineering: Assisting with real software solutions for industrial control systems
  • Testing: Hands‑on experience in software inspection, panel testing, and validation
  • Quality, Environment, Health & Safety: Gaining awareness of QEH&S standards in engineering delivery
  • Hardware Design

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers delivering market‑leading systems for large-scale, business‑critical automation and IT applications.

Academic Learning

You will attend Staffordshire University in structured block sessions or weekly release depending on schedule, with modules such as:

  • Applications of Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Engineering Design & Practice
  • Digital Electronics
  • Embedded Systems Programming
  • Real-Time Embedded Systems & DSP
  • Advanced Communications & Power Semiconductors

Each module includes dedicated off‑the‑job training hours, supported by expert academic staff and modern specialist laboratories.

Entry Requirements

  • Level 3 qualifications in a STEM subject (A‑levels, BTEC, T‑Level, or equivalent)
  • GCSE Maths & English at Grade 4/C or above
  • Must already live within 30 minutes of Capula’s Stone office
