Project Overview
This role is for a Site Quality Manager to join a major Waste to Energy (WtE) project in London. The project is currently transitioning into the critical mechanical, electrical, and piping (MEP) installation phases. You will be the lead authority on-site for the Main Contractor, ensuring that all works meet stringent technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Governance
- Establish and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) in line with ISO 9001 and project-specific requirements.
- Lead the site quality team and provide guidance to site engineers and supervisors on quality standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Client and Third Party Inspection (TPI) bodies regarding quality matters.
Inspections & Surveillance
- Coordinate and oversee the Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) for civil, mechanical, and electrical work packages.
- Perform regular site walkdowns to monitor workmanship and compliance with approved drawings.
- Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including identification, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.
Subcontractor Management
- Review and approve subcontractor Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Method Statements.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and lead weekly quality progress meetings.
- Verify that all materials and equipment delivered to the site meet project specifications (MRIR process).
Documentation & Handover
- Manage the compilation of Life Time Quality Records (LTQR) and final handover dossiers.
- Oversee the “As-Built” documentation process and ensure accurate red-lining.
- Coordinate the punch-list/snagging process through to final rectification and client acceptance.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Quality Management on large-scale industrial projects.
- Proven track record on Waste to Energy (WtE), Biomass, or Thermal Power plants.
- Multidisciplinary experience spanning Civil, Mechanical (including pressure parts/welding), and E&I packages.
- Relevant engineering degree or high-level technical qualification.
- Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001) or equivalent professional accreditation (CQI/IRCA) is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of welding standards (ASME/EN), Pressure Equipment Directives (PED), and NDT techniques.
- Proficiency in digital quality management software and document control systems.
- Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
Soft Skills
- Assertive leadership style with the ability to influence subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a “right first time” mentality.
- Strong communication skills for report writing and client liaison.
