Position Overview:As a Senior Groundwork Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects. This position requires a deep understanding of groundwork and construction practices, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets and regular reporting on budget status.
- Procurement: Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Contract Management: Review and administer contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements and company policies.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs and implement strategies to control expenses and mitigate risks.
- Variation Management: Assess and manage variations to the project scope, including preparing and negotiating change orders.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, including cost reports, payment applications, and other financial documents.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality control processes to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards.
- Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and updates to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred, but experience is more essential).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundwork and construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in cost estimation and budget management.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and procurement processes.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g., Excel, construction cost estimating software).
