Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and commercially focused Business Development Manager to drive growth.

By taking ownership of pipeline growth and developing meaningful industry relationships they will convert leads into profitable, high-quality projects.

About the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and securing interior fit-out and bespoke high-end joinery projects across commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, and corporate sectors.

The role involves strategic planning, market analysis, lead generation, and collaboration with estimating, design, and project teams to convert opportunities into profitable contracts, particularly within premium, luxury, and specialist joinery-led interior environments.

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction, interior fit-out, and bespoke joinery sectors.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets.
  • Generate leads through networking, industry events, referrals, and market research.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects including high-end residential, luxury hospitality, retail, and specialist joinery-led interior projects.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, capability statements, and proposals highlighting the company’s bespoke joinery craftsmanship and high-end interior solutions.

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, architects, designers, and contractors.
  • Develop relationships with architectural practices, interior designers, and developers involved in luxury and bespoke interior projects.
  • Act as the primary contact during pre-contract stages.
  • Understand client requirements and align company services including custom joinery manufacturing and specialist interior finishes.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Coordinate with estimating and technical teams to prepare competitive bids and proposals.
  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications, including bespoke joinery packages and specialist interior elements.
  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions.
  • Support pricing strategy and value engineering initiatives while maintaining quality standards expected in high-end interior and joinery projects.

Market & Competitor Analysis

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments within the interior fit-out and bespoke joinery markets.
  • Identify emerging sectors and growth opportunities, particularly within luxury residential, hospitality, premium retail, and designer-led interior projects.
  • Provide strategic insights to senior management.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with design, joinery manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams to ensure smooth project handover.
  • Participate in project review meetings when required.
  • Support marketing initiatives, branding, and company positioning with emphasis on high-quality bespoke joinery capabilities and specialist interior craftsmanship.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of annual sales and revenue targets.
  • Number and value of secured interior fit-out and bespoke joinery projects.
  • Growth in new client acquisition.
  • Conversion rate from lead to contract.
  • Client retention and repeat business rate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in business development within construction, interior fit-out, or bespoke joinery environments.
  • Proven track record of securing commercial fit-out, luxury residential, or specialist joinery projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, tendering processes, and project lifecycle.
  • Established network within the construction, design, and property industry (preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and financial acumen.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, technical specifications, and joinery detailing.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
