Job Description:

We’re looking for a Technology Operations Manager to join our TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations team based in Blackwall Tunnel.

Location: Blackwall Tunnel, E14 9PS – hybrid working available with expectation of 3 days on site.

Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday.

Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum + car allowance + further benefits.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Acting as the primary point of contact with our technology subcontractor Cubic, coordinating technical delivery and ensuring all contractual commitments are met.
  • Monitoring performance against KPIs, addressing any issues promptly, and implementing improvement plans to enhance system reliability.
  • Reviewing technical documentation, maintenance programmes, and method statements to ensure alignment with contract specifications.
  • Providing engineering oversight for communications, control systems, monitoring systems, and networked infrastructure within tunnels and pump stations.
  • Supporting onsite activities including fault investigation, system diagnostics, commissioning support, and coordination during critical incidents.

What are we looking for?

  • You have a degree or equivalent in a technology-focused engineering discipline, or relevant highways and traffic technology experience.
  • You’ve successfully managed subcontractors, ideally within technology or systems integration.
  • You understand mainstream highways technologies, communications networks, and control systems.
  • You’re self‑motivated with excellent communication skills, able to build positive relationships and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • You hold a valid UK full driving licence for site visits.
