Job Description:

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh/Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Accountant for an initial 4 month contract on a rate of £300/day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.

  • Lead on ensuring that the Planner module implementation is suited to the consolidation of all monthly reporting and annual budgeting process
  • Lead on the consolidation of all monthly financial reporting information to the Board and to the EMT in order to meet agreed timetables
  • Lead on the completion and submission of all financial returns to ensure all information is provided as required.
  • Lead on the consolidation of the annual budget setting process and quarterly financial forecasting in order to meet legislative financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that the Board Report and the Corporate report are completed accurately and to timetable.
  • Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with the preparation of the Statutory Accounts
  • Continuously improve the finance processes to improve customer experience and develop and implement new processes where appropriate
  • Supervise a team of Accountants to ensure the provision of high-quality services to the business
  • Build strong relationships with all senior staff and when required attend Executive Team/senior team meetings to explain/communicate and if necessary, interpret complex financial issues

Qualifications

  • As a minimum be educated to SCQF Level 9 (degree) ideally in a financial discipline and be a qualified accountant associated with one of the CCAB accounting bodies. xwzovoh
  • Commercial and/or management accounting experience of at least 5 years within large or similar environments
  • Excellent management, leadership and influencing skills with the ability to convey ideas and influence others when necessary
  • Ability to work under pressure and use their own initiative to prioritise workloads and ensure deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner
  • Be confident and approachable to enable continued engagement with stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver messages at the appropriate level
  • Excellent numerical skills to be able to understand and carry out complex and accurate calculations and analysis of financial data
  • Good IT skills particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and relevant finance packages
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
