A vacancy has arisen for a Bid Writer to join our Business Development Team at Head Office in Barnsley.

Hargreaves Industrial Services Ltd are a quality assured contracting company delivering EPC turnkey projects, framework contracts and term service operation and maintenance contracts across a wide range of industrial markets in the UK.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: –

  • Ensuring compliance with internal tendering and contract award process and procedure.
  • Understanding Public Procurement Regulations
  • Familiarity with framework procurements, open/restricted procedures and competitive dialogue
  • Ability to produce clear, tailored, persuasive responses that answer technical questions, method statements, quality / innovation criteria and social value requirements.
  • Adapting content to strict word counts, character limits and structured response formats.
  • Applying win themes and value propositions across answers
  • Ensuring full compliance with tender instructions.
  • Managing document controls and versioning.
  • Gathering data, case studies, KPIs, policies, and operational inputs.
  • Turning raw information into high‑scoring narrative.
  • Managing multiple tenders simultaneously
  • Writing answers that directly target scoring matrices and evaluation criteria
  • Understanding contractual risks, TUPE implications, mobilisation risks, and operational constraints.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in bid writing, able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of preparing scored tender responses and achievement of high scores which ultimately led to winning bids.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in public procurement sector, especially for contracting with Local Authorities and major infrastructure projects.
  • Professional attitude and excellent communicator with the ability to communicate with all appropriate stakeholders as necessary.
  • A high attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability
  • Excellent literacy skills, with an extensive vocabulary
  • Deadline driven with effective time management skills
  • Thrive in a busy environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
  • Strong competence in Microsoft Office suite and other appropriate software
