Are you a Design Engineer who wants full ownership of projects from concept through to completion?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering business with a strong and secure order book, designing bespoke machinery used in specialist industrial applications. You will take designs from initial concept through to manufacture and testing, working closely with production to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering complete mechanical design solutions across a range of bespoke equipment.

You will work closely with manufacturing, assembly and wider engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and delivered right first time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing full mechanical designs from concept through to final release
  • Creating detailed drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
  • Producing accurate Bills of Materials for procurement and production
  • Supporting new product development and continuous improvement projects
  • Liaising with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose
  • Maintaining accurate design documentation and drawing records
  • Supporting machine build, assembly and testing where required

Skills & Experience

We are keen to speak with Design Engineers who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally using SolidWorks
  • Experience producing detailed drawings and Bills of Materials
  • A solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • The ability to manage your own projects and deliver to deadlines

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Experience designing machinery or complex equipment

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to 46,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Stable working environment with long-term project pipeline

Location & Working Pattern

  • Based in the Scarborough area
  • Fully on-site role, with potential flexibility in the future
  • 39 hours per week – With half day on Fridays
