Provisioning Services (PS) UK Team lead Role Description
The PS team lead role will be to plan, organize, and manage staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the UK Network Provisioning Services group. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly around the Request for Service (RFS) workload and creation of standard work packages (SWP’s).
RFS workload is primarily provisioning the Network infrastructure needed in order to deploy the Banks Virtual and Physical servers on the correct Network zones (Dev/UAT/Production/Firewall/Core/etc) and to have all the network facilities needed for right first time activation of the Servers.
SWP is the creation of globally consistent work packages and a catalog to pick from (with SLA’s) to provide the network building blocks for the above RFS and other networking work. The actual packages will be performed by DB’s vendor partners but closely monitored by the PS team.
The UK Network Provisioning Services team lead will report into the Global PS Manager based in Germany and be part of the global PS team.
Role Description
The UK Network Provisioning Services team lead duties will include:
- Oversight of overall provisioning performance, operating level performance and personnel.
- Core working hours of Monday — Friday 8.00am – 5.00pm, however there is an expectation of some out of hours work
- Definition of key roles and responsibilities within the team
- Management of the overall team of typically 2 to 3 engineers for RFS.
- Ensuring the effective delivery of services through tools, process, procedures and reporting
- Responsible for integrating technical knowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions to automate operation activities
- Recruitment and development of personnel
- Development of on-going Key Performance Indications and management of the personnel performance reviews
- Allocation of overtime & control of budgets.
- Management of additional staff requests to support increased work volumes and/or project based work
- Ensuring that reliability and performance meets and exceeds current agreed OLAs for the Global organisation
- Critical event management including the escalation and involvement of the appropriate personnel as per the escalation matrix
- Maintain overall site governance to meet the regulatory and compliance requirements
- Main point of contact fro the RFS team in the UK
- Development of strategic vendor and customer partnerships
Required Skills
- Strong ‘hands on’ technical background in network and firewall technologies, Checkpoint, Juniper etc.
- An excellent technical and non-technical communicator both written and verbal, with excellent team building skills and the passion to deliver the very best service to the business
- A highly proactive self-starting ethos, with strong customer focus.
- A strong work ethic, high professionalism and exceptional problem solving skills
- A high standard of personal presentation with the ability to imbue confidence in colleagues and clients
- The ability to successfully work with stakeholders from many business areas, backgrounds and nationalities to realise milestones and deliverables
- The ability to effectively manage quality and to ensure a consistently high degree of successful delivery within resource, time and cost constraints
- Experience of successfully working with global teams across multiple time zones
- Exemplary co-ordination skills and the ability to understand business drivers / IT requirements
- Proven ability to initiate, develop and maintain relationships with technical and non-technical teams and individuals
- Basic understanding of ITIL
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong customer facing skills.
Education / Qualifications Required
- Degree or equivalent level with appropriate Industry standard qualifications
Background/ Work Experience Required
- 3 to 5 years previous experience with managing large carrier vendors, contracts and an understanding of telecom technologies
- Previous experience managing a large technical networking/firewall team on a global scale
- 5 years previous experience working in an Investment Bank
- Previous experience of Change Management process and procedures
