Job Description:

The Group Commercial Mechanical &plumber engineer is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The Group Commercial Mechanical & pipe reports to the Group Chief Engineer on their day to day job and PPM and will install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, pumps, Ahu’s, FCU system etc. He/She will be able to reads blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems. He/She will then plan install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls. These piping systems may be used to transport water, waste, gases or hot liquids. Plumbers work in cooperation with other trades and labourers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of any project. Providing adequate services will ensure that all water supply networks and waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes and safety. Assist the Group Chief Engineer to complete the project on time and budget and ensure all H&S aspect are met at all the time.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components.
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
  • Identify required tools and special equipment
  • Select the type and size of pipe required
  • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Inspects, repairs, or replaces pumps, valves and hot water systems
  • Inspects and tests fire sprinkler system and booster pumps; prepares documentation for compliance.
  • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls
  • Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
  • Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets
  • Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners
  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Ensure that maintenance teams keep plant rooms up to standard i.e. tidy; not used as storage; labelled etc.
  • Look after maintenance on pumps, check belts, bearings, seals, electrical (terminations, isolation, windings), and replace for repair or maintenance
  • Assist and ensure AC filters, strainers, magnaclean filters are regularly clean in accordance with the specification
  • Maintain all building codes, installation requirements and relevant legislation
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
  • Apply all codes to installations, repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
  • Ensure that installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes

Qualifications

  • Level 2/3 diploma in plumbing and heating
  • Level 2/3 diploma installing and maintaining domestic heating systems
  • Level 2&3 in heating and ventilation
  • CSCS card
  • COSHH knowledge

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: £52,000-£57,000 per year
