Electrical Design Engineer – Bedfordshire

Salary: GBP 50,000–55,000. Location: Bedfordshire. Industry: Manufacturing.

The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering high‑quality electrical designs from concept through to production. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet technical, safety, and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems, control panels, and schematics for manufacturing equipment.
• Produce detailed drawings using industry‑standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Support the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, BS, CE marking).
• Work closely with mechanical engineers, production teams, and external suppliers.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in electrical design within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of control systems, PLCs, and electrical schematics.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software.
• Understanding of relevant standards and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• HND/HNC or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
