What You’ll Be Doing
We are evolving our BI capability through a strategic partnering approach, designed to integrate data expertise within our main divisions. As the BI Manager (Commercial), reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence, you will be the technical lead and dedicated strategic partner to our Commercial Sales and Programmatic Advertising teams. This is a hands‑on role where you will architect and build the technical solutions that provide insights and help to monetise the massive global audience engagement across our brand portfolio. You will balance deep technical execution with the leadership of a team of analysts, ensuring that the Commercial Spoke of our BI function is both technically excellent and commercially impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development for the Commercial BI team—oversee delivery of BI solutions, write complex SQL queries, manage data transformations in Dataform, and architect data models in Looker.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering to co‑develop data products, influencing upstream requirements and pipeline design to provide a unified, performant view of commercial performance.
- Serve as a primary technical advisor for the Commercial division, translating commercial questions into technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain high‑value strategic data assets by integrating data from Order Management Systems, CRM systems, and digital advertising data (Programmatic, Direct Sales) to create a unified view of commercial performance.
- Ensure excellence within the BigQuery and Looker stack, implementing best practices for platform governance, scalability, and the use of latest technologies such as conversational analytics.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
- Expert in SQL and experience building production‑grade data models within BigQuery, Dataform, and Looker (or equivalent tools).
- Deep technical understanding of digital advertising data structures, including real‑time bidding, private marketplaces, and first‑party sales metrics, and ability to turn audience engagement into commercial insight.
- Track record in a senior or lead BI role where you remained hands‑on with technical delivery while managing or mentoring others.
- Ability to translate complex business logic into efficient, scalable code, valuing data observability and reliability as much as final visualisation.
