Project Manager – Transportation Projects
Location(s): Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, York, Newcastle and Sheffield.
Contract Type: Permanent. Work Pattern: Full Time.
Main Duties
- Successful management of development, design stages, delivery and handover of built‑environment and infrastructure projects, ensuring:
- Processes, procedures and governance protocols are applied.
- A project management plan is developed and maintained.
- Projects are scoped in line with agreed objectives.
- Deliverables are clearly identified and executed.
- Cost, time and quality targets are achieved with realistic action plans.
- Co‑ordination with H&S&W and CDM Representatives to comply with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Stakeholder and communication management processes and structures are established, including stakeholder mapping and relationship building.
- Collaboration with commercial, procurement and project control functions to deliver projects within agreed parameters.
- Assessment of resource and competence levels in supply‑chain teams, taking reactive measures when required.
- Administration of the NEC suite of contracts for professional and contractor commissions, addressing performance to achieve contractual success.
Candidate Specification
- Membership (or working towards) of the Association for Project Management (APM).
- Substantial project‑management experience across a broad range of disciplines, contract/procurement routes and market sectors.
- Experience managing and leading large project teams to successful outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls.
- Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
- Capability to establish and maintain good relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to travel to client sites and other MM offices.
