Research Group Administrator (Maternity Cover)

Applications are invited for a Maternity Cover Research Group Administrator within the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy.

Responsibilities

As the key support staff for the department’s Principal Investigators (PIs), the Research Group Administrator will:

  • Provide secretarial support covering research grant applications, diary management, and arranging travel with associated risk assessments or conferences.
  • Maintain research group records, collate and prepare staff timesheets, and monitor budgets.
  • Co‑ordinate with Finance, Grants, HR, Procurement and other Research Group Administrators to ensure smooth operation of the research group.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in line with data protection requirements.
  • Familiarity and confidence with digital administrative systems (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Experience in Higher Education is advantageous; however, individuals with transferable skills are encouraged to apply as full training will be provided where required.

Job Details

This is a temporary fixed‑term position for 1 year or until the return of the post holder, whichever comes first.

The role is full‑time but part‑time hours will be considered; hours and working pattern can be discussed at interview.
