Role Summary

We are looking for a highly organised and commercially aware Logistics & Job Control to oversee the daily scheduling and coordination of works for a team of 25 multi-trade engineers carrying out reactive and planned maintenance.

The role is responsible for ensuring engineers’ diaries are optimally planned to maximise efficiency, maintain strong customer service standards, and deliver commercially successful outcomes.

You will play a key role in balancing engineer workloads, managing urgent requests, and making strong operational decisions when schedules change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the daily schedules for a team of 25 engineers across multiple trades
  • Ensure engineer diaries are planned efficiently to maximise productivity and profitability
  • Manage both reactive maintenance jobs and planned works
  • React quickly to schedule changes, emergencies, and unforeseen issues
  • Prioritise work based on customer urgency, commercial impact, and engineer availability
  • Maintain strong communication between engineers, office teams, and customers
  • Ensure correct processes are followed for authorisations, approvals, and job progression
  • Support the successful delivery of larger planned projects, ensuring they run on time and within budget
  • Drive improvements in first-time fix rates and overall customer experience
  • Maintain team morale by ensuring fair workload distribution
  • Ensure internal SLAs are met, particularly around remedial turnaround times and estimate delivery
  • Have the authority and confidence to delegate tasks within the team, ensuring responsibilities are completed to the correct standard
  • Monitor workloads and identify gaps in the diary, communicating with management where additional workstreams are required to maintain an ideal workflow
  • Assist in driving additional work or supporting sales activity where feasible, or collaborating with the relevant team members who manage sales generation
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of routing, postcode areas, and logistical planning to ensure engineers’ travel time and job sequencing are efficient

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in logistics coordination, scheduling, or job control
  • Possess a basic technical understanding of property maintenance trades, or the ability to ask the right technical questions
  • Be commercially minded and able to make decisions that balance profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where quick decisions are required
  • Be highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and solution-focused thinking
  • Have strong communication and leadership skills
  • Possess excellent logistical awareness and common-sense planning ability
  • Be confident managing relationships with engineers, admin teams, and customers
