Job Description:

The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of fire detection, emergency lighting, and AOV systems across a range of client sites.

The role requires a good working knowledge of relevant British Standards and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to deliver safe, high-quality work.

Experience with CCTV or security systems is desirable but not essential.

LocationOur head office is based in E15 (Stratford). We are actively seeking candidates located in West London to cover client sites in that area efficiently.

Fire Detection & Life Safety Systems

  • Install, service, maintain, and commission fire alarm systems (conventional, addressable, and networked)
  • Ensure compliance with BS 5839-1:2017 and BAFE SP203-1
  • Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks
  • Produce accurate documentation (test sheets, certificates, reports)
  • Assist with system programming, cause & effect testing, and interface checks

Emergency Lighting Systems

  • Install, test, and maintain systems in line with BS 5266-1:2016
  • Carry out periodic inspections and maintain logbooks
  • Identify faults and recommend remedial works or upgrades

AOV (Automatic Opening Ventilation) Systems

  • Install, service, and maintain AOV/smoke ventilation systems
  • Ensure compliance with BS 7346-8:2013 and BS EN 12101
  • Conduct functional testing and confirm integration with fire alarm systems
  • Report faults and non-conformities

Security & CCTV Systems (Desirable)

  • Assist with CCTV, access control, and intruder systems
  • Support basic configuration and testing of IP-based systems

General Responsibilities:

  • Work in line with company H&S policies, RAMS, and site procedures
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle
  • Provide professional and clear communication with clients
  • Complete works to a high standard and within agreed timescales
  • Attend training, toolbox talks, and CPD sessions

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to Risk Assessment receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with Risk assessment.
