Job Title: Electrical Estimator

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical installations across commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects. The successful candidate will analyse drawings and specifications, liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, and support the tendering process to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates and take-offs
  • Analyse labour, materials, and equipment requirements
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving options
  • Prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits as required
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams
  • Maintain estimating databases and cost benchmarks
  • Support handover of successful tenders to project delivery teams

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator or similar role
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of current electrical regulations and standards
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and negotiation skills

Desirable

  • Experience in commercial / industrial electrical projects
  • Knowledge of value engineering techniques
  • Experience using estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Amtech, or similar)
  • Relevant electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND)
  • Full UK driving licence
