An independent, London-based construction consultancy is seeking a Graduate/ Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing cost management team. This role is ideal for a driven Graduate/ Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop within a supportive consultancy environment and gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle. The consultancy delivers a varied and interesting project portfolio, providing excellent learning opportunities across multiple sectors.
The Role:
You will support senior surveyors and directors in delivering professional cost management services from project inception through to completion. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and be actively supported toward chartership. Projects are typically London-based and range from smaller high-end refurbishments to multi-million-pound developments, offering exposure to both pre- and post-contract duties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with cost planning and budgeting throughout all project stages • Supporting the preparation of tender documentation and procurement strategies • Assisting with tender analysis and contractor appointment • Preparing valuations, cost reports and cash flow forecasts • Supporting contract administration duties • Assisting with change control and management of variations • Conducting site visits and attending client/contractor meetings • Supporting final account negotiations and project close-out • Maintaining accurate project cost records and reporting
Project Exposure:
Typical projects include: • Prime and super-prime residential developments • High-end refurbishments and fit-outs within Central London • Mixed-use developments combining residential and commercial space • Commercial office fit-outs and repositioning schemes • Education and community sector projects • Developer-led residential schemes from feasibility through delivery • Fast-paced refurbishment projects requiring strong cost control
Requirements:
• Degree in Quantity Surveying • 1–3 years’ experience within a consultancy or cost management environment • Strong commercial awareness and enthusiasm for construction • Excellent communication and organisational skills • Desire to work toward RICS chartership (full support provided)
