SENIOR MANAGER – SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
NEW CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE IN FARNBOROUGH FOR A SENIOR SOFTWARE MANAGER WITH STRONG LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
- Initial 6-month contract
- £52.17 per hour (Umbrella)
- On-site role in Farnborough (5 days per week)
- 37-hour working week
- BPSS clearance required

WHAT WILL THE SENIOR SOFTWARE MANAGER BE DOING?
This is a leadership-focused role, where you will be responsible for managing and guiding a team of 5 software engineers, rather than hands‑on coding.
You will play a key role in delivering software for a high‑altitude, long‑endurance aircraft platform, ensuring successful collaboration across engineering disciplines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the day‑to‑day activities of the software engineering team
- Managing delivery against team goals, timelines, and priorities
- Acting as a technical authority, ensuring compliance with aerospace and safety standards
- Overseeing the planning, development, verification, and integration of software systems
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members
- Supporting recruitment and team growth
- Collaborating with systems, avionics, flight operations, and maintenance teams
- Liaising with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities and suppliers
WE NEED THE SENIOR SOFTWARE MANAGER TO HAVE…
- Proven experience leading or managing software engineering teams
- Strong background as a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead / Engineering Manager
- Experience working within safety‑critical environments
- Knowledge of aerospace or regulated standards (e.g. DO-178C, ARP4754A, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience managing team workloads, priorities, and delivery
- Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or similar
IT WOULD BE NICE FOR THE SENIOR SOFTWARE MANAGER TO HAVE…
- Experience within aerospace or aviation environments
- Familiarity with C/C++/Ada or similar languages
- Experience working with regulatory bodies (e.g. CAA)
- Background in requirements management and verification
