Team: GRS Finance

Location: London

Type: Permanent

About the Role

The GRS Global Expense team is seeking a Lead Finance Business Partner with strong financial acumen and advanced analytical skills. In this role you will support Liberty International Insurance (LII) and Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMRe) by collaborating with local stakeholders and regional FP&A teams to implement standardized, consistent reporting tools and contribute to the development of new cost‑saving ideas. You will also own preparation and ongoing enhancement of the budgeting process and expense reporting tools, and act as a proactive, trusted partner to the business to strengthen expense discipline and drive accountability across regions.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee expense management and planning for a complex international business across LII and LMRe, supporting a broad range of stakeholders. Ensure financial transactions, policies, and procedures support the organization’s short- and long-term objectives and promote robust expense discipline.

Own the annual expenses plan, including the preparation, agreement and allocation of budgets, and ensure timely delivery against plan.

Partner with international FP&A teams and local stakeholders to implement globalized budgeting, expense reporting and analysis that directly support the international business and the CFO.

Provide finance guidance and support on LII and LMRe operational and strategic projects that have expense implications, and help quantify financial impacts and trade-offs.

Prepare clear documentation and presentations for LII and LMRe executive leadership, the Board, and relevant committees, and present when required.

Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships—local business partners, regional FP&A, and US teams—to ensure expenses are appropriately governed and managed.

Ensure accurate, timely, and controlled expense reporting and the consistent delivery of BAU expense activities.

Develop a deep understanding and clear processes to support both management and legal-entity reporting, ensuring the ability to efficiently distinguish between the two.

Monitor and explain expense trends and drivers to management, highlight opportunities for improvement, and create effective exhibits to communicate.

Continually assess the value and efficiency of finance processes, recommend and implement improvements, and develop consistent KPIs to track expense discipline and operational efficiency.

Lead and develop a team of onsite and remote employees, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM’s commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. LSM expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to all regulatory and internal requirements, and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times. These requirements include the Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules, Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.

Skills and Experience

Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast‑paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.

Able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
