Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Science / AI Educator or Industry Professional to teach our Introduction to Applied Data Science course for learners aged 16+.
This 30‑hour programme introduces learners to how data is used to understand real‑world questions and communicate insights clearly. Teaching is practical, collaborative, and project‑based, helping students build confidence with data through hands‑on tasks and team investigation.
The programme will run from 18 May to 27 June. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, adapt, and deliver engaging lesson materials in line with the prepared course specification
- Facilitate highly interactive workshops that make data concepts accessible to beginners
- Guide students through hands‑on beginner‑friendly data activities and collaborative investigations
- Support learners in team‑based Agile project work and sprint reviews
- Help students translate findings into clear visual stories and presentations
- Provide formative feedback on student outputs, teamwork, and communication
- Differentiate delivery for learners with varied academic, linguistic, and technical backgrounds
- Maintain accurate records of session delivery and student engagement
- Liaise with fellow lecturers and programme management regarding student progress and pastoral or academic concerns
- Keep up to date with developments in applied data science, AI literacy, and pedagogy
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- A postgraduate qualification (Master’s or above) in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent senior industry experience
- Experience teaching or training beginner‑level learners, ideally students aged 16+
- Strong practical experience with data visualisation, dashboards, spreadsheet analysis, and guided Python workflows
- Confidence using AI tools as part of a real‑world data workflow
- Experience supporting students through project‑based, collaborative, or inquiry‑led learning
- Ability to teach technical concepts in an accessible way to an international cohort of second‑language English speakers
- Availability to teach during the programme dates and location specified
Desired
- Teaching qualification or HE teaching accreditation (PGCHE, FHEA, MA in HE Practice, DipTESOL, etc.)
- Experience using Agile, sprint‑based, or design‑thinking approaches in education or industry
- Familiarity with ethical AI, privacy, and responsible data use frameworks

- Excellent communicator who can simplify complex ideas without oversimplifying them
- Skilled at creating inclusive learning environments for multicultural and multilingual cohorts
- Enthusiasm for helping students build confidence, curiosity, and career awareness
- Comfortable moving between technical guidance, project coaching, and presentation support
