About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with expertise in frontend development, particularly with React and JavaScript, to join our banking and finance division. This is a contract position valid until 31 December, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and project requirements. The role is based at our Essex offices, located between Brentwood and Basildon, requiring a presence of four days per week. As a key member of our development team, you will design, develop, and enhance new frontend products tailored for our customers, and mentor and upskill fellow team members.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in frontend software development, proven experience in React and JavaScript, and a solid understanding of modern web development practices, responsive design, and user‑experience principles. Excellent problem‑solving and collaborative skills, a proactive attitude toward learning new technologies, and optional experience in backend engineering, networking, security, or monitoring are advantageous. Relevant educational qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality frontend applications using React and JavaScript, ensuring optimal performance and usability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including backend developers, designers, and product managers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Assist in creating new frontend products tailored to customer needs, ensuring they meet functional and aesthetic standards.
  • Mentor junior team members, sharing best practices and knowledge to enhance overall team capabilities.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to uphold code quality and application stability.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve development processes.
  • Contribute to documentation and technical specifications to support ongoing maintenance and scalability.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving frontend‑related issues in a timely manner.
