Job Description
The position of SC Cleared Architect (Defence) involves contributing to national defence programmes by shaping and delivering digital and information-enabled transformation within secure and complex environments.
This role requires the application of architectural thinking within one or more domains (business, enterprise, data, application or solution architecture). Rather than operating within a single architectural specialism, the successful candidate will work across disciplines to develop coherent, pragmatic, and delivery-focused architectural outputs.
You will support transformation from early concept and discovery through to delivery and assurance, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders to ensure alignment between strategy, design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Align digital and information architecture with client strategy and operational objectives.
- Apply architectural thinking across business, data, application and enterprise domains as required by programme needs.
- Develop proportionate architectural artefacts using recognised frameworks such as TOGAF and NAF.
- Translate complex operational and business requirements into structured architectural designs.
- Support governance, assurance and design review processes.
- Identify architectural risks and propose practical mitigations.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure coherent solution development.
- Facilitate workshops to define future state architectures, operating models and transformation roadmaps.
- Analyse systems interactions, information flows and data structures to support informed decision‑making.
- Contribute to bid and proposal development by articulating architectural credibility and value.
- Represent Turner & Townsend as a trusted digital advisor within defence environments.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Demonstrates a structured and analytical approach, with a proactive and inquisitive mindset.
- Experience applying architectural thinking across one or more domains (business, enterprise, data or solution architecture).
- Ability to translate business needs into structured architectural outputs.
- Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and facilitating structured discussions.
- Experience operating within secure or complex environments.
- SC clearance or above.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and NAF.
- Understanding of modelling languages such as ArchiMate.
- Experience using modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or equivalent.
- Awareness of systems integration, data management or software delivery concepts.
- Experience supporting bid development or business growth activities.
- Previous experience within defence or government environments.
Office & Site Attendance
