About the role

In this role, you will be part of a team working on design and advisory projects in the energy sector, focusing on electricity transmission and distribution networks. You will support projects across the wider Power & Energy Solutions team and Atkins Réalis business, delivering multi‑disciplinary projects such as feasibility studies and front‑end engineering design. The position involves research, design, and exposure to project management, bidding, business development and agile ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Research topics and collate data to identify recommendations for substation development.
  • Evaluate transmission and distribution networks for new grid connections.
  • Develop designs for substations and electrical networks.
  • Contribute to project management, bidding, and potential secondments.
  • Participate in business development activities such as the Net Zero Superheroes school competition or Engineering Net Zero thought leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.2 BEng in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems or Renewable Energy.
  • Passion for working in a consultancy environment.
  • Desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek development opportunities.
  • Motivation to achieve professional accreditation (where applicable).
  • Comfortable embracing agile ways of working and learning new technologies.
  • Commitment to spend a minimum of three days a week in the office or on client site (project dependent).
