Your new team
This position sits within the Chivas Brothers business. The 1,600‑strong team operates across 27 sites, driving sustainable growth for Scotch whisky and opening new audiences globally. Operations cover procurement, distillation, maturation, bottling, and downstream supply chain.
Your unique contribution
As a key member of the Distillation & Maturation Leadership Team you will develop and implement a Health & Safety Roadmap, driving performance improvements and ensuring compliance through leading a regional H&S team and engaging all employees.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnering & Engagement:
- Trusted partner to site leaders, building environments where safety is second nature.
- Shape a culture that sees health and safety as a tool for success, not a barrier.
- Scan for regulatory change, emerging risks, and best practices to keep us ahead.
- People Leadership:
- Lead and develop safety advisors, building confidence and skill.
- Create a team that feels trusted, supported, and proud of their impact.
- Cultural Maturity:
- Elevate the H&S framework into a simple, human, and purpose‑driven roadmap.
- Instill shared ownership so safety lives in every role and decision.
- Standards & Systems:
- Manage high‑hazard risk and COMAH compliance through real conversations and checks.
- Oversee operational deployment of management systems and software platforms.
- Set clear expectations and share safety responsibilities with contractors.
- Change Management:
- Embed health and safety thinking early in site changes and developments.
- Training & Development:
- Move teams from lagging indicators to learning insights using data and experience.
- Build capability at every level, coaching safety awareness and critical risk thinking.
- Lead investigations focused on understanding, improvement, and trust.
Working relationships
You will collaborate internally across operations, HR, engineering, building management, security and more, and externally with the Health and Safety Executive, regulatory bodies, trade associations, emergency services, local authorities, and suppliers.
Your blend of talent
- Genuine care for people and belief that safety enables good work.
- Professional Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH) and experience implementing H&S systems.
- Proven leadership across multiple sites, managing competing priorities.
- Natural relationship builder with excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
- Experience in incident analysis, risk assessment, and HOP principles.
