We’re looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Southern Water Strategic Delivery Programme team based in Falmer, Brighton. Location: Falmer, Brighton – remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Kier as we embark on a strategic partnership with Southern Water to deliver their ambitious AMP 8 Water cycle programme. As Commercial Manager, you’ll play a vital role in mobilising projects across Southern Water’s areas, bringing your expertise to a dynamic and growing team.

Responsibilities
- Leading the commercial performance of contracts through effective management of resources, understanding contract conditions, and implementing risk management strategies
- Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to develop commercial strategies that drive successful project delivery and profitability
- Managing and mentoring a team of commercial professionals across the region, identifying talent and fostering development
- Producing high-level commercial reports and presenting to board level stakeholders
- Overseeing monthly valuations, cost forecasting, and financial reporting to maximise cash flow and project performance
Qualifications
- You hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying and Chartered Status (or equivalent professional qualification)
- You have substantial experience in a senior commercial role within a Tier 1 contracting environment, ideally within the Water sector or regulated utilities
- You possess excellent contractual knowledge, including NEC and JCT conditions
- You have a proven track record of producing board-level commercial reports and developing successful commercial strategies
