Company: Bevan Brittan LLP
Apply for the Housing Management Solicitor/Associate (Birmingham, Bristol or Leeds)
Location: Birmingham
Job Description:

Housing is one of our core markets and focus areas for growth. Our Housing Management team operates as one team with lawyers based in all four of our offices. We advise a considerable number of registered providers, ranging from many of the top ten largest providers in the country to smaller, specialist providers and everything in between.

Whilst the majority of our work is for housing associations, we also increasingly provide housing management services to a range of other types of organisation including local authorities, care providers, the NHS, universities and charities.

The role

The Bevan Brittan Housing Management team has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and is now one of the largest housing management practices in the country. Our track record of delivering high quality advice means that growth is set to continue, with a number of major tender wins adding to an already impressive list of clients based across the country.

We are looking to further expand and a vacancy has arisen for either a solicitor or an associate to join the team in any one of our regional offices (with flexible hybrid working). The role will involve advising social landlords (and other landlords) on a wide range of housing management issues, including:

  • Access injunctions for gas and electricity safety
  • Cases involving the Equality Act 2010 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Breach of tenancy claims
  • Possession claims
  • Failed succession cases
  • Leasehold management advice

What we are looking for from you

Previous experience of acting for social landlords preferable, with experience of acting for housing associations being desirable.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills, which are key to the role:

  • Extremely organised with a keen eye for detail
  • The ability to manage client expectations and adhere to KPIs
  • Strong communication skills with a professional approach to work
  • Confidence in working directly with clients
  • An ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
  • An aptitude for drafting and legal analysis
  • A team player with a keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels
  • A practical and commercial, ‘can do’ approach to problem solving
  • Commitment to the social housing sector
