Lead Control Systems Engineer

Location: Glasgow (Hybrid) – 3 days per week on-site. Salary: £Neg (Enquire for details).

MERITUS are working with a leading engineering and systems integration organisation based in Glasgow. They are looking for a Lead Control Systems Software Engineer to take a key role in delivering complex, high-impact projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of control system software solutions, primarily using Siemens PLC platforms.
• Oversee full project lifecycle delivery, including requirements capture, design, coding, testing, and commissioning.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers within project teams.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes and technical alignment.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and on-site commissioning activities.

Required Skills / Experience

• Strong experience in the design and programming of Siemens PLCs (e.g. TIA Portal, S7, PCS7).
• Proven background delivering PLC/SCADA/DCS control systems within industrial environments.
• Experience working across full project lifecycles in control systems engineering.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages (e.g. Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams and engage with clients.
