Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a UX Designer for an 8 Month contract based in Edinburgh or London (Hybrid).

The Role & Responsibilities:

We’re looking for a talented UX Designer to join our team, working across a variety of digital experiences including customer borrowing, home insurance, transactional journeys, and online banking. You’ll play a key role in designing end-to-end user journeys, particularly within mobile and web platforms, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and developer-ready outputs.

This role sits within a collaborative studio environment, with opportunities to contribute to mortgage journey design (experience in this area is beneficial but not essential). You’ll work closely with stakeholders, developers, and research teams to deliver impactful, user-centred solutions.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Design and deliver end-to-end user journeys, interfaces, and prototypes aligned to business goals
  • Produce developer-ready outputs, including detailed design specifications, accessibility annotations, and design system components
  • Define scope, approach, and timelines for small to medium-sized projects, contributing to larger programmes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, research) to align on requirements and iterate designs
  • Create user flows, information architecture, and interaction designs
  • Validate design decisions through unmoderated user research (eg UserZoom)
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and internal governance requirements
  • Facilitate workshops, ideation sessions, and stakeholder discussions
  • Communicate design rationale clearly to influence stakeholders and drive alignment
  • Manage multiple projects of varying size and duration (typically 4-12 weeks)

Key Accountabilities, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven ability to design production-ready user journeys and interfaces
  • Strong experience with Figma and working within established design systems
  • Experience delivering user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Understanding of user-centred design principles and accessible/inclusive design
  • Experience working in agile environments and delivering at pace
  • Strong skills in:
    • Interaction design
    • Information architecture
    • Prototyping
    • Design thinking
  • Experience designing B2B dashboards and journeys
  • Exposure to financial services or mortgage journeys
  • Familiarity with unmoderated user testing tools (eg UserZoom)
