Learning Support Worker – Ellesmere Port | TalentBoard

TalentBoard is now recruiting Learning Support Workers for a number of supportive primary, secondary and specialist SEND schools across Ellesmere Port.
If you’ve worked in care, youth support, mental health services, coaching, community projects, or any role helping vulnerable people, your skills are highly valued — and could be a perfect fit for this rewarding school-based position.
Your Role as a Learning Support Worker in Ellesmere Port
As an LSW, you’ll help children and young people with a range of needs access learning and daily routines. These may include:
- Autism and communication differences
- Learning disabilities or cognitive delay
- SEMH (social, emotional & mental health) challenges
- Sensory differences or ADHD
- Delayed, limited or non-verbal communication
- Physical or mobility needs requiring adapted support
Your work may involve:
- Providing nurturing 1:1 support or guiding small groups
- Helping pupils understand tasks using visuals, routines and accessible strategies
- Supporting emotional regulation and modelling calm, steady behaviour
- Encouraging participation in lessons, social activities and structured play
- Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and on-site specialists
- Contributing to a safe, predictable and positive learning environment
Every day, you’ll be helping pupils feel understood, valued and able to succeed — often in ways that make a significant long-term impact.
Who We Would Love to Hear From
You don’t need previous school experience. We welcome people with backgrounds in:
- Care or residential support
- Mental health, wellbeing or therapy services
- Youth work, mentoring or family support roles
- Social care, community support or charity work
- Sports coaching, outdoor education or activity leadership
- Support roles with children or adults with additional needs
You’ll be a great match if you are:
- Compassionate, patient and steady under pressure
- Confident supporting communication, sensory or behavioural needs
- Reliable, consistent and able to build trust
- A good communicator who can work as part of a supportive team
- Open to developing specialist SEN knowledge
- Willing to complete an Enhanced DBS
