Job Description:

Cyber Security Engineering Lead l £85,000 – £95,000 l Remote (UK or Europe)

TECHTRACE Partners are working with our client to hire a Cyber Security Engineering Lead to take ownership of security controls across cloud, network, infrastructure, endpoint and identity environments within a growing international organisation.

This is a hands-on, engineering-led role focused on enhancing, hardening and continuously improving security controls – not running a SOC or managing compliance.

Why this role is different

  • Opportunity to build and mature security controls from the ground up
  • Focus on real engineering problems, not process or governance
  • High ownership role with responsibility for how security actually works in practice
  • Work across cloud, infrastructure, endpoint and identity, not siloed
  • Move beyond reactive security into proactive control improvement and hardening

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and enhance security controls across:
  • Cloud environments (Azure / AWS / M365)
  • Network and infrastructure (segmentation, firewalls, exposure)
  • Endpoint security (EDR, device hardening, posture)
  • Identity & access (IAM / PAM, least privilege, credential lifecycle)
  • Improve the effectiveness of technical controls across the environment
  • Identify control gaps, misconfigurations, and exposure risks – and drive remediation
  • Ensure controls are properly implemented, integrated and continuously optimised
  • Strengthen detection capability by improving how controls generate meaningful signals
  • Drive improvements in vulnerability management and exposure reduction
  • Work closely with engineering and IT teams to embed and enforce security controls at scale

What we’re looking for

  • Strong background in security engineering (not purely SOC or GRC)
  • Hands-on experience across:
  • Cloud security (Azure or AWS)
  • Network / infrastructure security
  • Endpoint security (EDR)
  • Experience improving security controls, not just operating tooling
  • Exposure to identity / IAM / PAM and access control design
  • Experience working across both cloud and on-prem environments
  • Ability to identify weaknesses and drive practical, scalable improvements

Why apply

  • Own and shape security controls across a complex, evolving environment
  • Join at a point where you can fix, improve and build – not inherit legacy constraints
  • High-impact role with real technical ownership and visibility
  • Clear alignment with a senior engineering / lead-level position
