A leading UK FMCG business is seeking a commercially driven National Account Manager to take ownership of a key national grocery retail account (Co-Op).

This is a high-impact role offering full accountability for customer performance, including delivery of sales, profit, and growth targets across a well-established portfolio of branded products.

You’ll operate at Buyer level, leading the day-to-day commercial agenda while shaping and delivering joint business plans. Working cross-functionally, you’ll play a key role in aligning customer strategy with wider business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a major retail customer, delivering against sales, profit, and distribution targets
  • Lead all commercial activity including pricing, promotions, forecasting, and annual negotiations
  • Develop and execute Joint Business Plans, aligned to wider company strategy
  • Analyse performance data to generate insights and improve forecast accuracy and profitability
  • Deliver best-in-class promotional and shopper activation plans
  • Build strong, multi-level relationships with customer stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Category, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams
  • Ensure all commercial activity is delivered in line with relevant regulatory and competition guidelines

About You

You’ll be an ambitious and results-focused commercial professional with a strong track record in FMCG sales.

Key experience and skills include:

  • Experience managing national retail accounts within FMCG (ideally blue-chip environment)
  • Strong understanding of Joint Business Planning (JBP)
  • Proven ability to deliver commercial growth and manage P&L responsibility
  • Skilled in negotiation, trading, and building compelling customer propositions
  • Excellent analytical capability, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at multiple levels
  • Experience across branded and/or own-label products (food categories preferred)
