Job Title – Packing Operator Location – Duxford, Cambridgeshire Salary – £32,000 – £33,000 (DOE) Shift – Monday to Friday (Rotating: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm)
Job Role of the Packing Operator
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Packing Operator to join a globally recognised chemical manufacturing business at their flagship Duxford site. This is a stable and well-structured production environment offering excellent job security, strong benefits, and clear progression opportunities.
Working as part of a small, close-knit team, you will be responsible for operating and setting packing machinery across multiple production lines, ensuring products are packed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideal for someone from a manufacturing background who is reliable, hands-on, and eager to learn, with opportunities to progress into more technical roles or leadership positions over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, set, and monitor automatic and semi-automatic packing equipment
- Run multiple production lines packing finished products into boxes
- Carry out quality checks and complete production documentation
- Clean equipment between campaigns, including strip-down and reassembly
- Monitor line performance and ensure smooth operation
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards across the plant
- Work collaboratively to meet daily production targets
- Report hazards, near-misses, and incidents
- Suggest improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency

- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment
Desirable Requirements
- Operator Experience
- Experience within the chemical industry
- Knowledge of SCADA, 5S, or similar production systems
