Background

This 3-year post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) position is part of the interdisciplinary EPSRC-funded project “Recovering MOlecular ValuE from Unrecycled Multi-materials (REMOVE-UM)”. The project focuses on recycling hard-to-recycle multi-material products, integrating economic, environmental and societal measures. The assignment will involve analysis of end-of-life material flows, chemical valorisation, and the development of advanced separation technologies to efficiently recover value.

  • Design, develop and scale valorisation strategies for the catalytic deconstruction of multi-material waste streams.
  • Collaborate with team members from polymer science, economics, social science and life-cycle assessment to maximise economic potential and minimise environmental impact.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the group, offering technical guidance, mentorship and supervision to PhD and undergraduate students.
  • Foster collaboration within the group and contribute to a dynamic research environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in catalysis, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Experience in catalysis, reaction development and complex mixture analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
