Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions.   • This post will be based within West House, Gartnavel Royal Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within NHSGGC’s Public Health Directorate with a focused remit on health service reform, focusing on the implementation of the Population Health and Health and Social Care Services Renewal Frameworks. The post provides a varied and diverse experience across all Public Health functions, with opportunities for joint working or leadership across local, regional and national workstreams.

The primary function of the role is to support health‑care systems to function more effectively, contributing to improvements in healthy life expectancy and reduced inequalities. As a Consultant in Public Health (Medicine) with Deputy Director of Public Health responsibilities, the post holder will support the Director of Public Health in the discharge of statutory duties and corporate functions through the provision of public‑health leadership across the breadth of the portfolio. The role includes specific responsibilities for leading large‑scale service renewal programmes.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in health intelligence and health‑system transformation. Key skills include relationship building, the ability to build alliances and influence policy and decision‑making with key partners. While the post holder will not manage staff, they will provide strategic and professional leadership to multi‑disciplinary teams.

Qualifications and registration: Candidates must be included in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a licence to practice / GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) / UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
