Project Manager Rail

Salary: £70k-£80k  |  Location: South of England (Wiltshire region)

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a history of successfully delivering Rail and Civils Construction projects in the most challenging and restricted environments?

Are you looking for an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding division within a highly reputable contractor with excellent progression prospects?

Then a role within a world class, award-winning, Tier 1, innovative construction contractor could be for you.

We are currently seeking a Project Manager who can operate within various sectors on major projects. As part of the further growth within this client’s rail business, they are seeking a Project Manager to work on a range of projects ranging from £8m to £150m.

In this role you will oversee all framework activities from “cradle to grave” with a delegated team.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Professional Chartership Status (CEng MICE) would be highly advantageous
  • Previous experience on high profile rail projects is essential, as well as being able to seamlessly run possession works
  • Ability to manage a large team in a high paced environment

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintains a close working relationship with the Project Director and Managers
  • Manages a team consisting of Sub Agents, Senior Site Managers, Construction Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers
  • Communicates developments and significant decisions in the wider business
  • Responsible for effective client relationship management and provides updates to internal and external stakeholders in project/contract progress in operational area
  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed to support the safe delivery of the works
  • Ensures construction phase plans are in place to ensure sufficient resources and materials are in place
  • Will be expected to resolve most operational issues with any business critical or strategic issues referred to the Operations Director
  • To comply with company standards, policies and procedures
  • Ensures the timely close of remits and final accounting requirements are understood and programmed to allow the final release of value and payment by the client
  • Provides visible safety leadership and leads the development of a Never Harm culture on the frameworks
  • Leads Step-Up safety initiatives and drive a culture of feedback and reporting close‑call and positive actions
  • Sets the overall standard in the work areas
  • To ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed and delivered for all remits
