RSPB partnership project Plovers in Peril is looking for volunteers to help vulnerable beach nesting birds at key nesting sites between Snettisham and Heacham in Norfolk, from April to August. As a Volunteer Beach Ranger, you’ll be a friendly face on the beach, chatting with beach users, raising awareness of vulnerable beach nesting birds and encouraging wildlife friendly beach use – helping to reduce disturbance to nests through the season and build support within the local community. You’ll be our eyes and ears, sharing your sightings with the project team to help us monitor their progress. You’ll be part of an important species conservation project and make a real difference to a globally declining species. You’ll get to meet people from all walks of life and connect with your local community, whilst gaining opportunities to learn new skills or develop specific interests. We also provide transport for volunteers from Liverpool city centre, and can reimburse travel costs too. We go out every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and welcome all volunteers. You can join in the van at 9:30, returning at 4, or make your own way to and from the worksites. Restoring Hardknott Forest
Restoring Hardknott Forest is a partnership between the University of Leeds and Forestry England. We are restoring a 630 hectare former conifer plantation to native woodland, bog, heathland and other habitats. Tasks include removal of non-native trees, tree planting, monitoring and seed collection.
