A well-established software business of around 200 staff is seeking an experienced IT & Security Manager to take ownership of internal IT operations and information security.
This is a hands‑on leadership role within a business operating with outsourced IT support. You will act as the internal technical lead – triaging issues, overseeing service delivery, and ensuring systems, services and data remain secure, stable and well‑managed.
The role
You will act as the internal owner of IT across the business – responsible for day‑to‑day operational oversight, service performance, and the organisation’s security posture.
You will:
- Triage and coordinate internal IT issues before escalation to the MSP
- Hold external providers accountable for performance and standards
- Lead incident management and recovery planning
- Own security policies, risk management and ISO 27001 compliance
- Coordinate audits and respond to client security questionnaires
- Work with software development teams to manage security risks relating to the organisation’s SaaS platforms
- Promote security awareness and pragmatic risk management across the business
This is not a pure governance role. It requires someone who understands how systems actually work and is comfortable bridging operational IT and security.
- Strong hands‑on IT infrastructure background
- Experience managing or overseeing outsourced IT services
- Solid working knowledge of cyber security principles and risk
- Experience working within ISO 27001 or similar frameworks
- Comfortable acting as the senior IT point of contact for the business
- Experience within software, professional services or regulated environments preferred
- Commercially aware and pragmatic
