Job Description:

A leading global financial technology infrastructure provider is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Network Data Center Engineer to join its infrastructure team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of core data centre networks. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise with Juniper routing and switching, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 load balancers, along with excellent communication skills to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and manage data centre network equipment, primarily focusing on Juniper switches and routers, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 load balancers.
  • Network Optimisation: Monitor network performance, maintain high availability (HA), and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks or latency issues within the data centre environment.
  • Security & Firewall Administration: Implement and manage security policies, VPNs, and threat prevention using Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls and Panorama.
  • Traffic Management: Design and maintain local and global traffic management solutions using F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM) to ensure application stability and optimal routing.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Act as an escalation point for complex network issues, performing deep packet analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) to minimise downtime.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation including network topologies, configurations, IPAM, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaboration: Partner with systems engineers, cloud architects, and security teams to support application delivery, infrastructure scaling, and platform reliability.

Required Technical Skills

  • Juniper Networks: Strong hands-on experience with Juniper data centre platforms (QFX, EX, MX) and Junos OS.
  • Familiarity with modern architectures such as Spine-Leaf, VXLAN, and EVPN.
  • Palo Alto Networks: Experience deploying and administering Palo Alto firewalls, including App-ID, User-ID, SSL Decryption, GlobalProtect, and Panorama.
  • F5 Networks: Solid understanding of F5 BIG-IP architecture with practical experience configuring Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Global Traffic Manager (GTM/DNS). Knowledge of iRules is a plus.
  • Core Networking: Expert-level understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, vPC/MC-LAG, and TCP/IP fundamentals.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in a large enterprise or data centre network environment
  • Proven experience working directly in data centre environments
  • Relevant industry certifications are highly desirable
