Location: We have hybrid working in place, with 1-2 days per week, in our office in Canary Wharf.

What exactly will you be doing?

As a Press and Media Relationship Manager, you’ll play an integral role in shaping how AAT shows up in the media and how we communicate with the outside world. You’ll develop and deliver strategic communications that strengthen AAT’s reputation, ensure we have a strong and consistent presence across traditional and digital channels, and help position AAT as a trusted voice in the sector.

Working closely with the Head of Policy, Media and External Affairs, you’ll lead media engagement, respond to press enquiries, manage reputational issues, and build strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and political stakeholders. You’ll also deliver integrated campaigns and support our wider thought leadership work.

Major objectives

Your major objectives will include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers and key opinion leaders to secure meaningful and positive coverage for AAT.
  • Manage press enquiries to ensure clear, timely and accurate responses aligned to AAT’s messaging and priorities.
  • Lead crisis communications activity, monitoring media sentiment, and providing informed recommendations during high-risk situations.
  • Plan and deliver integrated campaigns across traditional media, digital channels and social platforms.
  • Manage political relationships and support engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Define external affairs priorities using insights and research to inform media strategy.
  • Drive thought leadership activity and identify opportunities for AAT spokespeople to contribute to industry discussions.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong experience in media relations and a track record of delivering successful communications campaigns.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure or crisis situations.
  • Experience managing political relationships or working with political stakeholders.
  • Confident user of Microsoft 365 and familiar with media monitoring and social media management tools.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Experience in a professional or awarding body context is desirable but not essential.
