Franchise Accountant
Location: EdinburghFranchise: BMW
We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Franchise Accountant to join Park’s Motor Group based at one of our Douglas Park BMW Edinburgh site.
This is a key leadership role, and the successful candidate will play a pivotal part in driving financial performance across our BMW franchise, ensuring strong controls, insightful reporting, and effective support to operational management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of all financial processes in line with group deadlines, ensuring accurate recording of sales, purchases, stock and related transactions
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the franchise
- Oversee and support Site/Franchise Accountants across the BMW division, ensuring consistency, accuracy and strong financial controls
- Liaise closely with the Franchise Manager to compare site performance, identify variances, understand operational drivers, and recommend improvements
- Analyse branch and departmental performance, identifying trends and providing meaningful recommendations
- Lead preparation and actively participate in monthly and quarterly business review meetings
- Support franchise and operational management in understanding and using financial information effectively
- Manage franchise assets including debtors, stock, cash and funding facilities to optimise cash flow
- Lead, develop and mentor the finance team to ensure robust controls and compliance with group policies
- Ensure timely submission of manufacturer composites, with clear analysis and interpretation of dealership KPIs
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial governance
- Support with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as required
Your Skills and Experience
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant
- Proven experience leading finance teams, ideally across multi-site operations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge, influence and drive improvement
- Well-organised, able to prioritise and work under pressure
- Confident communicator with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Motor trade experience advantageous but not essential
- Full, clean driving licence
- Experience with Autoline / Keyloop systems would be a distinct advantage
