Housing Options Officer – 6-Month Temporary Contract

Location: Essex (Hybrid Working)

Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently working with a local authority in Essex who are seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their team on a 6-month temporary contract. This role offers hybrid working, with a combination of remote work and office-based duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing housing advice and assistance to customers at risk of homelessness
• Managing homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
• Completing homelessness assessments, Personalised Housing Plans, and statutory decision letters
• Working proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness, including landlord negotiation
• Liaising with internal teams and external agencies to secure suitable housing solutions
• Ensuring cases are managed in line with current legislation and guidance

Key Requirements

• Previous experience as a Housing Options / Homelessness Officer within a local authority
• Strong working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and housing legislation
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines
• Confident communicator with strong problem-solving skills
