Responsibilities
- Raise invoices attributable to assigned Business Units.
- Assist Business Units in achieving Better Payment Policy (BPP) targets by reviewing reports and liaising with authorisers/suppliers to resolve issues weekly.
- Calculate and enter transactions in the general ledger as required.
- Conduct complex analysis of the assigned Business Units and provide commentary according to the monthly timetable.
- Assist in ensuring the Business Unit meets its budget review compliance target by liaising with budget managers monthly.
- Prepare internal recharges for temporary staff and other costs to be shared across Business Units.
- Assist in preparation of returns to external bodies as required for review by the Finance Business Partner or Deputy Business Partner.
- Produce accurate financial reports under guidance of the Finance Business Partner or Deputy Business Partner for the assigned Business Unit according to the monthly timetable.
- Assist in preparation of the annual budget and forecasts for the assigned Business Unit following the departmental framework and timetable.
- Support staff within the Business Unit to ensure financial affairs are conducted in line with Trust’s procedures and controls.
- Maintain financial controls including the Authorised Signatory Database and accounting hierarchy.
- Issue budget statements to Budget Managers across the organisation in accordance with the monthly timetable.
- Reconcile and clear suspense accounts in liaison with management accounting in line with monthly reporting timetables.
- Liaise with payroll to identify salary overpayments and recover monies in line with Trust policy.
- Investigate and provide advice on overpayment queries.
- Administer financial arrangements of the Trust’s car leasing, including preparation of P3s and coding of lease invoices.
- Reconcile the Trust’s balance sheet accounts for salary deductions, including lease cars.
- Calculate and enter transactions for the Trust and charitable funds in the general ledger as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Any candidate with relevant NVQ Level 3 or AAT Level 3 (or below) will be considered and remunerated at Band 3 salary.
- Experience in accounting or finance; a student actively developing experience is acceptable.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail.
- Previous experience with budgeting, invoicing and general ledger transactions is desirable.

The role includes the opportunity to study towards a Level 7 professional accountancy qualification. The Trust makes use of the Apprentice Levy to support professional development and will provide a dedicated study mentor. Access to a wealth of resources through Skills Development Network (SDN). The Trust is an accredited employer with AAT, ACCA (GOLD) and CIMA training provider.

Remuneration & Working Pattern
Band 3 salary starting at £24,937 per annum. Hybrid role: initial expectation is 3–4 days per week in the office, reviewed once the candidate is up to speed.
