Job Title: Credit Risk Impairment Manager (IFRS 9)

Role Purpose
The Credit Risk Impairment Manager is part of the Credit Risk Provision and Forecasting team and is responsible for the production, reporting, and analysis of IFRS 9 impairment actuals for Retail and Corporate portfolios.
This role focuses on end-to-end ownership of monthly impairment results, including data integrity, model output review, post-model adjustments, governance submissions, management information (MI), and analytical insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly IFRS 9 impairment production cycle, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of impairment results.
- Review and challenge IFRS 9 model outputs, movements, and key drivers of impairment actuals.
- Maintain and enhance Post-Model Adjustments (PMAs), including governance, documentation, and justification.
- Ensure results are reconciled and aligned with Finance during month-end, half-year, and year-end close.
Analytics, MI & Insight
- Develop and maintain impairment MI, dashboards, and analytical reporting.
- Provide quantitative and qualitative commentary explaining movements in ECL, staging, coverage, and key risk drivers.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis into portfolio performance, credit quality, and impairment volatility.
- Deliver outputs suitable for senior management and risk governance forums.
Governance, Audit & Control
- Lead preparation of materials for Impairment Forums and senior risk committees.
- Act as a key contact for internal and external audit.
- Maintain robust controls, checks, and documentation across the IFRS 9 production process.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS 9 accounting standards and internal policies.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Finance, Portfolio Management, Collections, and Risk teams.
- Provide clear explanations of impairment results and key judgements to senior stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience in IFRS 9 impairment production and reporting within Credit Risk or Finance.
- Deep understanding of IFRS 9 methodologies, staging, and Expected Credit Loss (ECL).
- Strong SAS and Excel skills.
- Ability to explain complex impairment outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Strong risk, governance, and control mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in banking or financial services.
- Knowledge of credit risk modelling or portfolio analytics.
- Experience working with risk governance committees or regulatory reporting.
