Clerk of Works – Facades

Head Office: Romsey, Hampshire

Projects: South of England / London

Salary up to £65,000 + Car Allowance £5000 + Bonus £3000 + Pension + 25 Days Holiday

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading fire safety and facade consultancy based near Romsey, who are searching for a Clerk of Works to join the business.

The company works with a wide range of clients from social housing providers, landlords, private consortiums and management companies. They are presently overseeing the refurbishment and remediation of multiple facades / cladding projects on high-rise residential buildings across the South and London.

They are looking for a Clerk of Works to ensure all Cladding and Facade elements of schemes are delivered safely and to the highest standard of workmanship.

This role would suit a Clerk of Works who has Cladding/Facades experience or a Clerk of Works with a general construction background.

The Role

  • Home/office working and attend site on a minimum of 1 day per week for the duration of the project or more, depending on the stage of the project.
  • Monitor site operations in relation to contract requirements governing quality of workmanship and materials and liaise with the Supervising Officer/Employer’s Agent.
  • Draw attention to any issues noted relating to safety.
  • Inspect a selection of materials delivered to the site, including those of Sub-Contractors, for compliance with the contract documents.
  • Inform the Client and Contractor in writing of any materials found not to comply.
  • Inspect works in progress, including those of Sub-Contractors throughout the project.
  • Inform the Client and Contractor in writing of any materials and workmanship found not to comply.
  • Provide detailed written reports to the Client, including any variations.
  • Record the details of any occurrence or situation thought likely to cause delay or of any delays which do occur in relation to the Building Contract and inform the Client.
  • Draw to the attention of the Client any apparent discrepancies noted on the drawings and between drawings and specifications.
  • Make spot checks on health and safety and fire safety matters.
  • Witness tests, including retests, maintain records of location, dates, results and other relevant information, report as necessary.
  • Carry out inspections at completion stages.
  • Maintain records of variations and hidden work for the information of the Client.

Candidate requirements

  • MICWCI qualified or have the equivalent experience (IOB, CABE, RICS, IFE)
  • Full UK driver’s license.
  • Competent use of IT software, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ideally, knowledge (and preferably a qualification) in fire stopping.
