This position will suit an engineer with strong setting out capability and previous experience in tunnelling, shafts, or heavy civils who is confident working in a fast-paced, site-based environment.

The Role

You will play a critical part in the delivery of tunnelling works, supporting day-to-day site operations and ensuring engineering accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out for tunnelling, shafts, and associated civils works
  • Managing and maintaining accurate site records, QA documentation, and as-builts
  • Supporting delivery teams with technical input and problem solving
  • Ensuring works are carried out in line with design, specifications, and ITPs
  • Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, and management on site
  • Assisting with permits, RAMS, and ensuring health & safety compliance
  • Monitoring progress and reporting back to senior engineering and management teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer in heavy civils, tunnelling, or pipeline environments
  • Strong setting out skills using GPS/Total Station
  • Experience working on shafts, microtunnelling, or underground works (highly desirable)
  • Good understanding of QA processes, ITPs, and site documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

Certifications / Qualifications

  • SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
  • Confined Spaces (desirable)

What’s on Offer

  • Long-term programme of work on a major infrastructure scheme
  • Competitive day rate (Outside IR35 subject to assessment)
  • Opportunity to work on technically complex tunnelling works
  • Strong pipeline of future work for high performers

If you’re an engineer who enjoys technically demanding projects and wants to be part of a major infrastructure delivery, this is an excellent opportunity to get involved. Apply via the button on screen or send a CV to Connor at connor.matthews@ganymedesolutions.co.uk
