Residential Care Practitioner – Derby

Location: Children’s Residential Homes across 3 homesStarting Salary: £37,275.89 (increasing after 6-month probation)

Are you an experienced childcare professional passionate about shaping young lives? We are looking for 7 Residential Care Practitioners to join our supportive team in Derby, delivering care across three children’s homes. In this role, you will help create a safe, nurturing environment that supports children and young people to thrive.

The Role

As a Residential Care Practitioner, you’ll work closely with senior colleagues to provide high-quality care to children with emotional, behavioural, or developmental needs.

You will:

  • Deliver safe, structured, and nurturing care for children and young people
  • Support children in daily routines and activities
  • Participate in care planning, risk assessments, and team meetings
  • Attend training and development sessions to enhance your skills
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and independence

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in children’s residential care or youth work (experience with EBD advantageous)
  • Relevant childcare qualification (as per regulatory requirements)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Passion, resilience, and commitment to improving young lives

Working Pattern:

  • Full-time role: 56.5 hours per week (including sleep‑ins)
  • Shift pattern: 08:00 – 23:00 plus sleep‑in and 08:00–08:30 handover the following day
  • 3‑week rolling rota, averaging 10 shifts per month
  • Total monthly hours including training and meetings: approx. 244.5
