Registered Manager Responsibilities
- Lead and support a dedicated team
- Oversee care delivery and ensure compliance with CQC standards
- Develop and implement systems that promote high‑quality, person‑centred care
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment
- Overall management and operation of the care home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with all relevant legislation
- Provide safe, compassionate, and person‑centred care to adults in a residential setting
- Ensure the wellbeing of the people we support while promoting independence, dignity, and respect
- Ensure that we are providing good or outstanding support to all of the people we support
- Take responsibility for understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements
- Ensure that the service follows Shaftesbury policy and procedures and to fully investigate if this is not the case and actively seek to embed any learning
- Assign key self‑assessment audits to ensure compliance with the good governance calendar
- Monitor the quality of records by using sampling methods
- Keep an overview on the KPIs for the service to ensure it is performing in line with Shaftesbury’s expectations
- Act as the Local Safeguarding Lead
- Ensure the rotas are monitored to ensure that we are not over or under delivering support in line with the budget
- Own the management accounts and have a good working knowledge of what sits behind the account and seek to explore and resolve variances
- Ensure that when care needs change they are re‑assessed and new contracts are put in place to meet people needs
- Undertake an annual service improvement plan to understand the status of the service and outline its future direction of travel with guidance from the relevant director
- Monitor operating systems in accordance with policies and procedures and ensure these are being audited on a regular basis
- Ensure that the service is compliant with regulatory frameworks and placing authority contract requirements
- Attend local networking opportunities or ensure we are represented by one of your team
- Implement the delivery plan for the service
- Work with the Director on any key strategic project allocated to the service
- Support the organisation to deliver its objectives by reaching out to the wider community
- Provide direct supervision to Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders
- Provide coaching and mentoring of Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders
- Ensure that you work in a way that supports the wellbeing of the staff team
- Chair staff meetings
- Identify staff training needs and plan to meet these, in conjunction with the Service Delivery Leaders and Team Leaders
- Ensure staff personal development is ongoing to meet the needs of the people we support
- Promote Shaftesbury values, undertake reports as required, undertake other duties as required, undertake on call as required, promote the organisation in a positive manner, maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders internal and external
Qualifications
- Valid NMC PIN and CQC registration
- Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it)
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for inclusive care
At Shaftesbury New Court Place, we’re on the lookout for a dedicated Clinical Registered Manager to lead our high‑dependency residential care home for younger adults with disabilities. If you’re passionate about person‑centred care and want to be part of a values‑driven organisation, we would love to hear from you. NMC registration is desirable, but not essential.

New Court Place is a residential home with nursing care for 24 adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. We also provide respite care for 16‑18 year olds.
